The IL section of IFLA started around 2002, and I believe this year in Canada they made history by finally adopting an IL logo. We can learn more about this from Esther's latest Lili blog and several other weblogs. The IFLA IL section website is a little out of date but provides some history http://www.ifla.org/VII/s42/index.htm
Checkout especially the Information Literacy Resources Directory, http://www.infolitglobal.info/ created by the IFLA section "to record information literacy materials from different parts of the world, on behalf of UNESCO. "
Enjoy..
