LIRT Wikieducator Information

LIRT is the ALA Library Instruction Round Table, an organization of librarians from all types of libraries who are interested in information literacy instruction. They publish a newsletter that’s now going to be online only. They will be posting the link for future issues of this newsletter on the LIRT listserv. LIRT also puts on programs and/or discussions at each ALA conference, and publishes books as well.

See below for a message posted on the LIRT listserv on November 8, 2010:

"6th November, 2010

Fellow librarians/information specialists,

In April 2009, a Wikis in Education for School Librarians workshop was conducted by the Distance Education Unit, Ministry of Education, Trinidad, W.I. (see link: http://wikieducator.org/Learning4Content/Workshops/Face-to-Face_schedule/L4C49/Workshop_3_-_April_14_-_16,_2009_(School_Librarians).

At the bottom of the wiki space, I added resources that focus on information literacy, media literacy, educational technology, and intellectual property resources that may be useful for teaching and assessment. I also uploaded some personal photographs of places/buildings in Trinidad and Tobago, which may assist school librarians and educators with their teaching. I would encourage you to all to visit the wiki space and to contribute to the wiki space if you have some time.

To join the wikieducator community, you can click on "log in/create account" in the top left hand corner of the webpage. Then follow the instructions. If you are encountering any difficulties, please feel free to contact me.

In the event that you are a member of the wikieducator community and you forgot your password, you can enter your username and click on "email new password."

I intend to upload more resources on a weekly basis, so please log on and check the wiki space and contribute when you can. Remember to be careful in terms of copyright. To learn more about wikieduator see: http://wikieducator.org/Main_Page.

I have uploaded a link to a survey on the wikieducator page:
http://wikieducator.org/Learning4Content/Workshops/Face-to-Face_schedule/L4C49/Workshop_3_-_April_14_-_16,_2009_(School_Librarians)
[scroll down to the bottom of the page].

You can also access the survey via this link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2K9JP5W

I would appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete the survey which will be closed on 12th November, 2010.

Thank you for your support.
